It’s summer! When would it be a better time than now to focus on the fashionable Provençal way of decorating your home? Whether it be by using terracotta, rough wood or rattan, we will be showing you how to brighten up your home in the style of the sunny Mediterranean.

For your home: go big with terracotta for your floor…

Using terracotta tiles, known for its beautiful colour and hexagonal shape, is the emblem of Provençal decor. Covering your floor in this way brings character to your room and naturally freshens it up during the summer. Combining this powerful red with walls in light tones such as ivory, white or beige will make for a bright and enjoyable atmosphere.

… or be subtle by using small touches in order to accessorise your home

In order to take a less radical approach to this material that is so typical of the South of France, collect terracotta pottery which will bring warmth and contrast to your home.

For your living room: opt for raw materials

Furniture made out of natural materials will become your best friend. For example, bamboo pendant lights will make your evenings seem never-ending even when the sun goes down. A dining table made out of rough and ribbed wood will make for an excellent feature when you invite your friends and family round.

For your terrace: replace your deckchair with a hammock chair

A hammock chair is a real must-have in order to be able to relax both indoors and outdoors. Relax in this cocoon as you feel yourself rocking from left to right like a peaceful backwash in the heart of the creeks.

For your bathroom: opt for minimalism

A minimalist decor lets in natural light and gives way to light tones such as white and beige, which will give your bathroom a refined atmosphere. You can also bring a touch of nature to your bathroom with an olive branch in order to obtain that Provençal fragrance.

For your kitchen: bring the Provençal pattern to your table

The authentic blue and white Provençal pattern, with its touches of yellow, has recently been brought back to life by fashion designer Jacquemus. You can follow this trend by brightening up your table with bowls made out of china with this traditional pattern. Condiments and herbs, citrus fruits and vegetables from the market will bring colour and cheerfulness to your kitchen.
